Bar Counter and Shelf Set

Authentic and wonderful old French oak bar counter and associated bottle rack. Originates from a small cosy family-run hotel,established back in 1925 in Reims in the beautiful Champagne district of northeastern France, for its bar restaurant.

The hotel was closed in the late 1960s as the heirs not wish to take over the hotel and run it as an inn. The house in which the hotel and restaurant were located has until just a year ago been left unused, with all furniture untouched for more than 40 years, including this incredible handmade oak bar counter. The heirs recently decided to sell the place and luckily one of our good French dealers acquired this unique inventory.

The almost 100-year-old bar counter is in solid carpentry work, in processed oak with the finest carvings and details, table top in nickel-plated brass and pale marble top. At the back, the bar counter still retains the old copper sink, as well as a charming draft beer tap (not functional), as well as cupboards and drawers for practical storage.

The bar counter additionally includes a spacious wall shelf / shelf arrangement, on which during the hotel’s heyday, there would have been rows of liqueurs and liquor bottles as well as cleaned glass. The stories it could tell!
