French trompe l`oeil painted porcelain paté mold, from Pillivuyt, France around 1900.
The shape is inspired by hunting and used for serving game pies or pâtés.
The type of game ingredient in the dish is indicated by the head on the golden brown crust of the lid.
Trompe l’oeil is a painting technique that involves painting a realistic illusion on, for example, an object.
A marvellous and super rare paté form in very good condition.
