Venetian Murano Chandelier

Wonderful Venetian Murano chandelier from circa 1930s. A delightfully sumptuous and handmade work of art with a fairytale expression.

This piece is made of milky white, iridescent opaline glass with charming pastel hued details in pale blue soft turquoise. It has a classic Venetian composition with a central baluster-shaped stem, from which elegant arms curve symmetrically out. The arms are fluted and transparent with mother-of-pearl sheens, which gives a vivid play of colour in the light.

Each light arm carries an opaque glass flower-shaped bowl, decorated with small blue bud details along the edge. Above the bowls are “drip-light” cuffs in white glass, giving a traditional, romantic expression. Above, the central column is crowned by a dramatic vase-shaped top with flower and leaf ornaments in clear and light blue glass.

The decorations consist of hand-shaped flowers, leaves and small buds in transparent and opalescent glass, typical of Murano craftsmanship, where each detail is individually attached and shaped. The soft combination of white and ice blue gives the chandelier an elegant, almost frosty expression – as if inspired by flowers in glass or frozen bloom.

Overall, the chandelier appears as an exclusive and artistic piece of Italian glass art, combining traditional Venetian design with refined colour choices and richly ornamented craftsmanship.
