Glass Display Dome
Antique French glass dome from around 1900, and made of mouth-blown glass. The beautiful large glass is shaped like a dome and the light has the most beautiful play in the old glass. It rests on an oval dark hand-carved wooden base, with small ball-shaped feet and a recess for the glass.
In France, these domes were often used as wedding mementos (globe de mariée) to display memories from the wedding such as jewellery, waxed flowers from the bridal bouquet, photographs, etc.
Today, the old glass domes are used to create atmosphere in modern interiors and to display unique objects.
