Pair of Girandoles
A gorgeous pair of large antique and ornamental girandoles-a term referring to decorative candlesticks, often lavish, which originated in the 17th and 18th centuries and became particularly popular in France.
They are designed to hold candles and cast a glittering and animated light in the room.
A typical pair of antique French girandoles consists of a heavy base which is made of gilt bronze, a central stem adorned with detailed faceted prisms and unique glass spire on top.
The characteristic of girandoles is the use of glass prism pendants that cover segments of the stem.
These reflect and refract the light from the candles, creating a beautiful play of light.
