Chandelier
Coveted and impressive antique French chandelier, with a gilded brass frame and of clerical origin. This sumptuous and voluminous lamp dates to circa 1900, and originates from the Catholic Church. The chandelier has an abundance of large, clear prism branches and beautiful faceted prisms with ecclesiastical symbols, as well as several tall prism spiers and a giant base ball that all elegantly capture and reflect the light.
Notice the special prisms with references to the Catholic Church, such as a motif of a ship anchor, which is a symbol of hope, as well as a christogram / Jesuit emblem with the initials IHS / ΙΗΣ (Iota-ete-sigma), which are the first 3 letters of Jesus in Greek. The crown has had new electricity instaalled, and has as many as 10 sockets / bulbs distributed on 2 levels.
A rarely seen and very exquisite chandelier, with ecclesiastical history, which would look wonderful in a high-ceilinged entrance or in a stately living room.
