Church Candelabra
Handsome antique French church candlestick, with three branches for 3 candles.
This lovely candelabra is from around 1900 and originates from the Catholic Church. Such pieces are also known as thanksgiving candles, as they were donated to the church, often as gifts from the church’s parishioners and wealthy families, as thanks for a good harvest, blessing or healing.
They still stand today in Catholic churches, often at the altar or in small niches around the church.
The candlestick is made of patinated bronze and brass, with a beautifully ornamented base.The branches are elegantly constructed like a simple bouquet, with anemones with central coloured stones, and charming foliage.
Perfect for the mantelpiece or on the windowsill.
Since the candlestick is an altar candlestick, it appears more eye catching in the front and is flat at the back.
